given enough oomph its can do well. possibly we can add in any funding over ? given to charity . maybe even contact palace to participate ? e.g. half of entry fee going to charity of Prince of wales choice . see if he can be persuaded to meet winner ? after all he did learn to drive in a P6 .
throw in a trip to say police car museum? they like to get good publicity too I am sure.
so lots of potential but the hard part... getting a small group together whom have access to media and other areas such as classic car clubs. fetes , shows . so it can get publicity and sponsors. more famous we get involved . more chance it has . imagine say david Beckham having a drive in one ? see a few circuit s or a short road trip driving it ? arrange for private pics and viewing areas bit like at NEC ? and you start to have a winner.
Ok so pigs might fly ..but wasn't it at least a possibility? all we need is somebody famous or with lots of dosh..er who's that guy who advertises tip for bumper waxing on TV using a blue rover P6 ? anybody else are to throw in suggestions?

Could you please condense your rant into fewer words, for us old folks...:rolleyes:

well rant over. essentially trying to say its possible with club backing and media input to generate interest in our Marque. e.g. a certain princess died died driving one. a certain prince learned to drive and passed test in one. etc
seeing so many classic car meets now starting to charge owners to turn up and show cars ! our local club cancelled those going due to that alone.
reason= owners already pay often hefty running and restoration costs . enjoy showing and meeting other owners and even other makes etc. the organisers of such shows need classic cars to turn up a s part of attraction to get public in an paying entry. we ( our club) has no objection paying a small fee ..( debatable what small is but let's say £1 per car ) thus 100-300 cars arrive that will cover insurance costs etc or ought to.
rest ought to go to charity ..our local area club is non profit making and all extra monies from shows is given to charities. the 'extra' being after costs of providing insurance cover .hire of equipment .signs etc .
if we then look at current interest show e.g. car SOS. Wheeler Dealers .. we can see there IS a general public interest in old cars. you can even hire one in Cyprus as part of holiday! if we start working with other clubs to push for no profit from us coming to shows ..do we not pay enough to run them?...( I dare not check what cost per mile mine has cost as divorce or large bonfire will occur) .
hopefully I have made my thoughts a bit clearer. competitions can be run and used on media such as radio and TV to enhance our club and cars. there are programs where these cars were used . police cars ..murderers.accidents etc . the funding of competitions is as always subject to a driving force and idea. often by TV commercial interest but if t serves us...?
any other members want to chuck a few ideas forward ? maybe at NEC win car ? ( rover p6 of course) buy a ticket and any profit going to charity... say £4 a go. the hard part getting a prize in 1st place... thats why I suggested supply companies might like to get involved for a bit of advertising ? Wadhams? Wins ? etc oil companies .mayeb even a few supplies as prizes ?
