How many classic Rovers does any enthusiast actually need?

No matter what your current ownership, the answer is always N+1 - where N = the number of classic Rovers currently owned.

There is always room for one more!

We will always need more space,a bigger garage, more garages,a barn,a bigger barn! 8)
A lock up yard!
The classic owners doctrine dictates that we must fill it with cars and parts,as otherwise its wasted space!
The less we have the more we want!
The more we have, the less room we seem to have! :?

Oh you're so right Neil, however you forgot T....

N+1
T

Where T is the available storage space.

The equation becomes unstable when N+1 > T and this can lead to marital distress and upset howver when N+1 < T then this can lead to mental instability in Rover owners and increased desire and searching of Classic Car Magazines & Ebay.

This brings into play Newtons third Law of Motion :-

For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.

....and so the cycle begins again. :D :D

This same formula is widely acknowledged in the cycling world too. One more than you have now and usually one more than you actually have room for!

cars + bikes + guitars + pianos + old computers ... I only have 4 cars, 3 bikes,10 guitars, 2 pianos and 12 computers or so.... so new hobbies have to use less space :D

Blimey, I have one newish car, 1 classic car and a bike - I am feeling rather left out now

I suppose I also have 2 reps cars (they belong to me) two Transits, a Peugeot Bippa and Partner. oh and three forklifts, but that's somehow not the same.

I must admit that I don't drive Sparky as much as I would like to, so not really a problem.

I get by with just the one 42 year old car, a steel Chesini road bike from around the end of the '70s or early '80s, that I can leave locked up out of sight without stressing about it, and a decade old carbon fibre Look road bike with a nice Campagnolo groupset for sunny days and holidays. However, the list of other automobiles and bicycles that I would like to own is pretty damn long!

Three Rovers, and a Scimitar, for me, at the moment! I find that three cars is more than enough for me, at the moment, because, if I have any more than that, one or two will barely be used, and will sit forlornly.

3 P6's , 2 75 tourers , 1 400 and a Defender. Defender currently getting the bent bits removed after being written off. Both project P6's in deep storage! 75 needs clutch fixing and the spare one stripped for spares! Only the 74 P6 and the 400 on the road at moment !
Very tempted by Frazer's 800 as it looks like a perfect low miles original classic for the future ! But I must resist at least till I've cleared some of the scrap I have

I have only one classic car, but I have to limit it thus because my tendency towards OCD mean I can't cope with looking after any more. However the temptation is always there. Only one bicycle and three guitars. The one fetish I've allowed to roam unchecked is a desire to fill the house with books. I haven't counted the collection, but it would be well into four figures by now. The number of bookcases in the house is determined by the equation N-1, where N is the number required to shelve all my books.

Many. Many many Rovers!

I'd like a couple of P5b's to play with, a few more P6b's to modify into the ideal cars I have in my head etc.

I purpose that the theory is N+1=X but X-(T+S) where T is time and S is space!

I've found my limiting factor, having the time to work on, and more importantly drive them. Plus I'm now in a position of being responsible for cars I don't even own! My current fleet stands at 4 P6s, X-type, mondeo and now 2 tractors (Ford 6610 & dexta. On top of this I have my brother in laws series 3 landy, and my late father in laws 3500 and 2 X1/9s to look after. With a full time job and a farm to look after, complete with cattle, horses and donkeys, getting time for cars is a struggle.
Regards,
Dave
