How do you remove the sidelights?

After noticing lots of condensation in both rear lights and the front sidelights I've given in an bought a good set of front sidelight lenses and rear light lenses, plus all new foam gaskets - both the glass against light cluster and cluster against bodywork.

Fitting the former is easy - unscrew lenses, stick new gasket in, put new old lenses on, done. But - and that's a big but - how do I actually remove the light cluster itself from the body work so I can change the gaskets between the wings and the light body? Obviously I'll undo the mounting screws and unplug the earth lead, but then? How do I separate the rest of the cables so I can take the cluster out?

Thanks,
FC, stumped.

err is your question how to remove the wires?
snap in connectors behind the headlights would be the answer
lamp bases are held on to body with screws hidden under the gasket if I recall correctly

:)

Yes, sorry, the question was about how to take the body out - figured out how to unbolt it but not how or where the connectors for the wires are.

That'll be the front sorted, does anybody know where the connector for the rear lights is?

Open the boot & lift up the side trim on each side & you'll see the bullet connectors for the light clusters. Disconnect them (leave the connectors on the loom side) & push them out the grommet (if it's there. If not, replace it) they disappear through. You'll be able to remove the cluster now.
The fiddly bit is getting them back into the boot which you'll have to support the car & remove the wheels for, so you can get your arm up to the holes (as the actress said to the bishop :D ) once the cluster is back in position. Then just plug them all back in.

ooh if you stick a bit of stiff wire out through the grommet in the inner wing ( something like an aerial is good!), with bends premade to the route you want it should appear at rear of the wing, tape of your wires and pull back through wing.
