I have noticed when my 2000sc is hot it seems reluctant to start it eventually does yet I have no bother at other times it is worse these last few weeks due to the warm weather.I wonder if the mixture needs to be weakend, also I know that the manuals say 20/50 for the carb dashpots but find when I use this I get lumpy tickover etc and when I use a lighter oil I dont get this? I wonder what oil other members use on this site and if they have experienced the same symptoms? regards gary

Gary,
This slower starting in hot weather could be due to a number of things apart from mixture strength. Do you use less/more/the same choke when starting?
I have always used 3-in-1 oil in SU carb dashpots as it gives a slightly quicker throttle response - More important when I had a Triumph Spitfire - Although I understand the theory that 20/50 will be slower to respond when the engine is cold(so you don't overchoke it) and quicker when hot for improved throttle response. Hope this answers your query.
Regards, John.
