Highbeam Instrument Bulb

The aforementioned bulb on my Rover has decided not to illuminate when the highbeam lights are switched on. I changed the bulb, made no difference. Tried two more bulbs, no difference. Checked the fuse in position 11 - 12, no problem that I could see, although I didn't change the fuse. The high beam lights run via relays, with both operating as per normal, so only minimal current flows through fuse 11 - 12, and given that they work normally, I tend to think that the fuse would be ok.

Any thoughts as to what might be the problem?

Hi, Is there power at the plug onto the instrument cluster? If yes then check the printed circuit track.

Hi Colin,

If by power at the plug, you mean power to the plug that retains the bulb, then I would suppose not as it doesn't illuminate.

It used to work perfectly well and there has been no misadventure. Can the track just fail like that?

Ron.

Hi, no, I meant where the loom plugs into the printed circuit, the other end of the track where
the bulbholder is. Yes the track is only thin and can deteriorate or be easily damaged.

See Stan,s (Vaultsman) thread on his printed circuit board fun.
