Hi , after owning two rover p6s before a 3500s and 22ootc (non runner)it is without question my favorite car ever and so I am bringing home a very sad lookin 3500s to keep this time and will rely on a lot of posts here in coming months / years so hello to all and glad site is here

Well I’m no expert but if she’s a bit rough on the outside , and she is , I can expect tears when I go deeper , but deal done , taking a chance , she’s still running and driving and got original type gearbox so may get a decent welder I reckon .

All the tension, all the build up :( I am part of the now generation and need pics.......NOW :D

Will be looking forward to the unveiling.

Its as people have said its not the arrival its the journey and having gone from a roughy to a gleaming red beast you will have all the extra satisfaction of having done it all your self with your own DNA blood sweat and tears inbuilt to the finished product.

Welcome, Graeme

Thanks Graeme , collecting soon, I’ve had moments where I thought I’d just find a cleaner one , but she’s a dog rough 3500s , And will keep me occupied for a long time and I feel like taking on a restoration these days not that I have the experience in welding etc but I’d say I will after her somehow !!!shes Old , beaten , dented , faded paint and jaded rough interior with grey cloth seats , she deserves a bit of love

Hmm, well a look under the rear seats at the sill corners will tell you with a fair degree of confidence what you're dealing with. Don't underestimate how difficult/expensive redoing and sourcing an interior can be. It's getting to the stage this is more costly than replacing the sills.

Thanks peter , to be honest they don’t come up too often where I am and on limited budget right now , this one I know is BAD , I picked up my last 3500s (almond) in Bristol 10 years ago and it flew to ferry and home no problem with occasional wiggle to battery earth to start , man in customs stopped me just to say his dad had one and give her a tap on roof , had virtually no rust , was mint under rear seat and decent sills , had a dog of a gearchange though , an sd1 conversion but box felt shot ,other than that she was a beauty , wish I never sold it , still flying around over here somewhere I’m sure , this one will remind me of that mistake for a long while I reckon but glad to have another 3500s / take your point on the interior don’t think il be keeping much of this one ....

hi Again , we’ll deal went bad on v8 so settled on a 2200sc , had a v8 in my head but it’s still a p6 , picking it up at weekend all going well

Never mind - P6s are all great! I’ve got both 4 cylinders & V8. I may have to thin the collection down at some point & I’m not looking forward to choosing :(

Good to hear I had a 2200 before but never got it running , they are real thin on the ground now so beggars can’t be choosers, will put up pic during week
