Hi All, Just registered on here, and am the proud owner of a 1971 Rover 3500, Mexico Brown, bought on Ebay a few months back. The base unit is extremely good, only needed a small bit of welding to the inner wings at the front, mechanically good too, the engine holds excellent oil pressure when warm at idle, and has only done 68000 miles from new. The car was purchased with all the panels and doors removed, and I'm sourcing a few new bits to fit. I'm at the painting the panels and bolting them back on stage, and no doubt will be on here asking lots of silly questions soon. I'll be joining the P6 owners club too, as soon as I can get me form off.. :)

Hi V8P6B and welcome to the forum, I hope that you have a long and happy association with you P6!
You have come to the right place for asking P6 questions, as we have a lot of knowledgeable people on the forum that are are only too willing to help, silly or not!
Would be nice to see a few photo's of your restoration in progress!

Mike.

I'll get out and take some pics tomorrow! The car was previously owned by a P6 owner's club member, so may be known to the club, Reg no. XJU330J. It shouldn't be long before she's ready for MOT, and back on the road. She's been a really easy restoration, the base unit is really solid, and in good nick, the only welding needed was the inner front wings, both sides, at the front near the headlights, and then only a couple of small patches the previous owner sorted. I'm attempting my own respray in cellulose at the moment, my Dad was a car paint sprayer for 40 years, so is giving me lots of pointers, and I'm quite pleased with the painting I've done so far. I also own a 1960 Ford Anglia 105E and a 1972 Pontiac Firebird Esprit, with a 6.6litre V8. The Rover will be hitting the road first though.

Hi mate, nice to see you on here as well as 105speed :D All you need now is a Capri, then you will be just like me

Get those pics up :D

Oh and your sig made me chuckle

Nice too see another car saved from the scrap yard. Ok yours is prob very good condition but does seem cars that are stalled resto projects where someone has stripped it down then never put it back together end up being scrapped for feeding eBay with their parts. Nice to see you've saved it from this fate. :) thumbs up.

Does a 1971 Pontiac Firebird count? Its kinda like a capri, 2 door coupe, long bonnet, "interesting" rear end handling... Seriously though, in my stoodent daze, I have previously owned no less than 3 Capri's, 2 mk2, 1 mk3. Wish I had them now, I sold them for peanuts. :)

First pics now up, will be taking more as I go.. Sorry no pics of the whole car yet, I need to get it out in the open for that. Pics Here
