Im new here, and need a little help. The boot wont close on my P6 V8! It was fine before. It looks to be ok, but wont latch.

Hi! And welcome. We love photos, so why not post some?

Onto the boot, the P6 boot lid needs to be gently pushed closed by pressing down on the number plate plinth. Normally that will cause it to latch. If you try and slam it two things happen:
[1] The lid is very light being aluminium, so it tends to bounce instead of latching.
[2] Eventually the boot lid distorts and won't latch cleanly. You may have to adjust the latch and latch plate to align them again.

Try the light push first and see if its working ok. If not we can get you back where you want to be.

Welcome again!

Steven

Hello,

Welcome to the forum; I know that you will enjoy your time here. As Steven suggested, do post some photos and tell us a little about yourself and your Rover. This information helps us to help you.

Hi and welcome to Rover P6 stuff.
Ive had my P6 from new. It came with an advisory plastic note attached to the inside of the latch.
Gently push down on the lowered boot lid and the catch will engage.
If you slam the boot the air pressure inside will set up resistance. Ive never questioned the science, as it works

Welcome and enjoy.
Mine also had a "J" reg but it was a late Series 1 (August), was a bit annoyed when the second series came out shortly after delivery but after 52.5 years have learned to accept it.

Did you accept it in the 20th or the 21st century?:p Apparently mine was meant to be Arden green.

Probably 21st when I realised there were less around than the second series! Though I would prefer the more plentiful round instruments.
