Hello !

Hi Mike,
I will take some photograph today and see if I can get them on this forum.

The car has a light (like the back bumper) on the front bumber just under the Rover badge. Should look great at night !!! I know that Riley had a badge with a light behind it but I have never seen this on a Rover before.

No one out there with any racing/rally expierence with a P6?

hi peesix,
are you after a metal opening sunroof ( metal in the apperture that is to be opened ) or a webasto fold back roof ( vinyl covered over a metal framework and twice the size as the first. i have both, but would be expensive to ship to holland. ( if you did not know the roof unbolts and you put in either a sliding roof or webasto.

Hi Ian, Iám looking for the large roof. Give me an indication of the price and where you live in the UK. I could make a weekend of Rover P5 happening and pick it up.

Hi All,

I'm a new member to these forums. I drive a 1971 P6 3500. It was my grandfathers car before he handed it down. I've been driving it regularly for about five years and have just put it around the clock for its first time. No doubt these forums will provide a lot of information to help me keep this car as my regular vehicle!

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome along, it's good to have a family history with your P6, and being used regularly. Don't forget to use the search facility, as many subjects have mostly probably been covered before on this forum.

Mike.

Hi all, another new member here. Been lurking for about six weeks on the site absorbing information. I live just outside Canberra in Australia.
I've looked at a few cars, drove 3 hours to look at a "nice" car which was "perfect condition" only to find it needed every item in the interior replaced/redone, paint chipped and scratched everywhere, and a dying auto.
I'm about to buy a P6 v8. I have first option on a deceased estate vehicle about an hour from me, but boy the execution of the will is dragging along!
It's a solid car mechanically, however the paint has faded a bit and has some primer scattered around the place, but it's an original car that hasn't been molested, and those of you that have owned a few cars would know how important that is! It's a 1974 model so has power steering and the updated front end (which I personally prefer).
The only negative to the car is the horrible brown colour, but considerng the condition of the paint, it will probably change colours at some stage, probably to Paprika.
The reason I'm buying a P6 is to get an affordable car that's fun to drive, I'm tired of trying to be sensible and run around in soulless japanese cars that don't do anything terribly well, and have absolutely no endearing qualities!
The plan is to build a mild car, but something with a bit of fun to it, so it wil get a 5 speed swap and a few little tweaks.
I also miss that lovely V8 exhaust note, and the P6 will give me that and some semblance of utility with regards to fuel economy and being a smaller, more nimble car.
I've liked the shape of the Rovers for ages, and really hadn;t paid too much attention to them until I started digging around for something affordable, and found out their attributes.

Regards, Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Welcome along, I hope that you have a long and happy association with a P6, mine started back in 1969!

Cheers,

mike.

I have a P6 in the garage as I type this, and not the one I was holding out for!
We had to go to Sydney today to visit some people, and I'd been keeping a loose eye on a P6 on Ebay, but hadn't commited to look at it as it was 250kms away. So on a whim I contacted the guy and had a look.
Lovely car, nice dark green (not sure if original colour, but door shuts are the same colour), nice mechanically, interior O.K, needs some tidying up and a bit of reupholstering here and there.
Anyway, teh car made it home at freeway speeds (110-140 km/h) with ease. Got a whole bunch of documentation with teh car, including a full Rover dealer service history, and lots of receipts for mechanical and some body work. I've just found out the transmission was rebuilt less than a year ago, roof resprayed, lots of suspension bushes replaced etc!
So, now I have to track down some alloy wheels and think about what I'm going to do with the transmission, I am going to do a manual conversion, maybe someone will want it.
Photos will be posted tomorrow, once the sun is up.

Regards, Andrew.

Hi...just stopping by to say hello, pending the collection of my 1971 2000 on Friday 6th. Bought a P6 as my dad had a 2200TC back in the mid/late 70's & he let me drive it at 17/18 years old whenever my old bangers were off the road. Fond memories I hope to rekindle! My P6 is going to need a new NS/R wing & maybe a few other "bits & bobs".

Well I'm now officially a P6 owner having collected my 1971 2000 on Friday - VEL 827J. It has "old" P6 owners club stickers in the window; anyone recognise the reg? It was re -engined a while back with a 2200 lump. Tobacco leaf with cream leather upholstery & IMHO in remarkably good condition - very few rust spots on the paint or chromework. I've spent the weekend "feeding" the upholstery (which is also remarkably well presented for it's age - just a bit of loose stitching on the driver seat & the odd nick here & there) & polishing the paint & chrome & the more I do, the more pleased with it I become. There are a couple of issues though: it needs a new n/s/r wing, the starter motor often fails to engage until the 3rd or 4th attempt, the gear lever is very rattly & you can select reverse without lifting the gate which makes the 4-2 change a bit hairy sometimes! Anyway, I'll post some pics when my daughter gets back from Italy with the family camera.
