Hello - just joined with an unusual project.

Been building a house but today got back on the monster for a few hours, so did a trial run of the chain drive fitment.........

Can't help but think about Parry Thomas & 'Babs' whenever I see a chain drive. There were many auto's so equipped though, so the law of averages is on your side. Just make sure you have a nice thick guard around it.

I wonder if it might be a good plan to use much larger sprockets? The strain on each individual tooth is going to be rather high.... For comparison, think of the size of the drive sprockets on, say, a Frazer Nash?

Indeed he did. They buried Babs on the spot but they dug her up a few years back & she's in Brooklands now:

She makes an awesome pairing with the Napier-Railton:

Is she just a temporary visitor there? I saw her a couple of years back in the museum in Pendine that I assumed had been built specially for her, though there were other interesting machines there too.
About 25 years ago she was sitting behind chicken wire in an unused alcove in the shopping centre in Bangor, a very sad sight and mostly ignored by passers by.

I'm not sure but she's been there the past couple of times that I have.

The Railton's got to be one of the most impressive looking cars ever built.

About 10 years ago they were also both in Brooklands. 8)

Well, after about a years break because of brother dying, garage on fire, holidays, bad weather, etc, I am back on the case. Decided to remove one engine for a better profile and balance. Also started buying parts of the correct era.
