Hi All,

I found your forum a few days ago, and think god you exist! I have a series I 2000TC that I've owned for around three years. It was originally bought brand new by a homicide detective on the other side of the country in Oregon, It sat for around 20-25 years and was picked up by his doctor (long story). He started getting it back on the road but found his dream e-type and sold the TC to me. I have done the usual stuff to get it more drivable: rebuilt the carbs', rebuilt teh rear calipers (he had done the fronts) rebuilt the servos, and sorted the gear shift mechanism so that I can find the right gears in the right order. Only having front brakes and driving though New York's rush hour after picking it up from the car transport depot was very interesting!

The car is rust free but the paint is rather dull in places. I suppose I'll have to respray it at some time, but I like the fact it looks good from 20 feet, but looks original up close.

I used to run Triumphs when I lived in London (grew up there and moved here around 11 years ago). But I have to say the quality of the rover just keeps on surprising me. Every year we do a couple of 'round trips to Cape Cod and back (around 700 miles each time) and she never misses a beat.

Sorry for the rambling email, just wanted to say 'hi' and got carried away.

cheers,

Steven

Yup, this forum is a god send. My p6 would be in the scrap yard if it was not for the guys here. Also being on an island, although a bit closer to the UK than yourself ;) it can be a bit awkward getting parts. When I get some extra storage space I want to get a 'spares' car but the ferry and low loader costs will make it costly. (they don't like cars being towed onto the ferry)

As a side note, I've got your cars close relative. :D a 1973 2000 auto from Jersey, orginally owned by the manager of the Barclays bank in Victoria Road, Georgetown. Do you know if its still there or been made a pub now? ;)

Hi Richard,

I don't think so, I don't believe Barclay's are here anymore. I'm up in Northern NJ, Georgetown is (I think) down near PA. A 73 P6 in the US is a bit of a mystery. I thought the last ones were sold in 71 over here. :?: There again, I know they had trouble shifting them at the end. So maybe it was 71 that the dealer told him was a 73. That sort of thing still happens here.

If yours is a NADA series II they're really rare (something like 500 in total). Be cool to see it.

Thought you'd like to see some pics of 'Rolly' (My better half named him): These were taken when we lived in Brooklyn.

ha ha, I'm stupid. ;) Wrong Jersey. LoL That's kind of funny. That'll learn me forgetting how popular the P6 was around the world. Great to see pictures of her, she looks good.

Thanks, Melissa (the other half) and I really enjoy having Rolly. I've been told I'm not allowed to sell him! Yes, this Jersey is bit further away than yours!
