Welcome.
Good to see another from Oz, even if you are north of the Murray.
Hi Mike, just a 'quicky' question , as follows..
I live in the UK (Midlands )have a 1972 P6 3500 ,in Corsican Blue .. nice looker ,with the Webasco roof and with the stainless steel exhaust sounds great.
Now, I may have to sell this beauty off in the next few months, because of an on going eye problem .Having recently spent time in Australia (Blue mountains, Jervis Bay & Sidney) it made me realize that the atmosphere was just right to preserve a vehicle ,and this motor deserves to be looked after .
Plus of course I saw some super classics vehicles .
My question is , what be be your view/comments on me advertising the sale of the Rover in Australia as /when I have to reluctantly sell her on.
Hope you don't mind me troubling you on this one .
Regards
Mr Masala. (Pat )
ps It would be a pleasure to sent you some recent photos of 'the beast '

Welcome to the forum Mark! I know that you will enjoy the time that you spend here :)
So does your Rover have the metal fan? All Rovers manufactured within the U.K came with this option, whilst the overwhelming majority that were imported into Australia following assembly at the British Leyland plant in New Zealand came with a 13 bladed nylon fan running through a viscous coupling.
I too have a 1974 Rover :) Looking forward to seeing your photos!

Ron.

Hi Pat
I feel for your situation.
Whilst there is nothing to say you shouldn't advertise in Australia, my view is that it will not lead to success for the following reasons:
The value of our cars is not high, even those which are pristine.
The cost of transport would be a significant impost which would need to be figured into the purchase price.
A few years ago customs introduced a requirement that any car coming to Australia must be totally asbestos free with certification required at Port of shipping,, but still subject to stringent inspection on arrival. Presence of asbestos could lead to confiscation of the vehicle.

Sorry if this sounds brutal but I hope you will appreciate it in the way it was intended, as a realistic response to your question.
I suspect that our cars are more valued in the UK, which is likely to be your natural market.
Wishing you all the best for a positive outcome.

Hi Mike, Thank you so much for your reply, you have most probably saved me an awful lot of time and trouble !
As I mentioned I was in Australia last October, oh what a super country you have, oh to be about 40 years younger, and to think of all those opportunities of getting out to Australia for £5.00 all those years ago .
Again, many thanks
Pat .
Ps If ever I can be of help to track any parts or info down, please feel free to contact me.
Pps I even had the pleasure of having a 'pint' in that fabulous pub Fortunes Of War
