Hello and thanks already!

Hello All,

I am a new member to the club and just thought I'd post a quick message to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum. I'm restoring my '74 3500 at the moment but have never taken on such a big project before. If it wasn't for the help and moral support from people posting here I sincerely doubt I would have been brave enough to start!

I bought my P6 when I was 19. After a few years happily running it, I decided to start a restoration. Ten years later I realised I had accidentally got married, had 2 children and hadn't got round to starting work on the car! Funny how time flies when you're not paying attention. Luckily the car was in a nice dry garage and has survived remarkably well. I'm starting the serious work on sorting out the rot next week so wish me luck...!

Best wishes to all!

Marto

Good Luck !

How did you manage to ignore it for 10 years ? Certainly makes me feel better about the slow progress on my project.

Any idea of the extent of repairs required ?

The rear wheel arches are quite rotten around the seams between the panels which I gather is a very common problem. I have a friend who is an expert welder and he thinks we will be able to get them sorted out without too much trouble.

I'm more worried about small patches of rust at the ends of each sill where the floorpan joins. The sills seem solid but I'm bracing myself for nasty surprises.

The 10 year delay is indeed terrible. My head is hung in shame!

Hi

I am also a new member to this forum. I have been a member of P6 for the last twenty years. I tried to join the forum three years ago but with no success. Tried recently and that was a palaver and this took two weeks before I was accepted as registered and able to send a reply. Has anybody had the same difficulties?

Julian

Hi Julian, sometimes it takes a while to be accepted, just depends how often I can get to the forum. All applications have to be checked as 90% of them are bogus and have to be rejected to prevent nasty things being posted !

Hope you enjoy using the forum. :)

Still computers are not one of my top priorities, and time I have applied to join and then got back to you it is to late and I then have to start all over again.
I shall give it a go now I am in.

Welcome Marto and Julian, welcome to newcomers land.
If you get a little spare time the website can offer a lot of fun on those drab evening like this one. Its hissing down with sleet/snow here in Kent on this Easter Saturday.

Dont waste any time getting that welding sorted Marto, the summer is just around the corner and youll surely be wanting to get the old girl out on the road. (dont worry about the marriage mate, "what did you go and do that for" when there are real important issues to sort out.
I hope she is undersatnding like my good lady. (yeah right).

Hopefully, (are you paying attention dearest Webmaster) we will have a users gallery soon, and we can all post pics of our cars, and projects. The Webmaster is working on it over the Easter period I think, and I bet its up and running by Monday. lol. nudge nudge. :D
