A few months ago I took the heater out of Minstrel (1972 2000SC) to refurb it. Having cleaned and resprayed it I put it back. As far as I can tell everything works including the heat, so no airlock found. However, when I try to wire it, I find I have 2 wires that come from the fan motor that do not fit anywhere. One of these is an earth as when I touch the lead to the body of the car the fan runs all the time. The fan is also extremely noisy. It was before I took it out but I thought had cured that problem when I cleaned it, as when I had cleaned the fan I tried it and it was pretty quiet.
As for the wiring I plugged the 3 colour coded bullet-end wires(from the heater thermostat) back into the original bullet connector by the steering box. Which left me with the 2 wires from the fan. The original wires that were on the fan were so badly decayed I couldn't even tell what colour they were originally. I have tried connecting the fan motor to the fan switch on the right side of the centre console but this still makes the motor run permanently.
Got to admit no matter how much I study the wiring diagrams in the manual it does not tell me where the wires go.
PLEASE can someone help me with this problem?
Many thanks in advance, guys.
