Heated rear window repair

I've got the rear window out, and it seems a good time to look at the non functional demisters.

All of the tracks are open circuit, and the problem seems to be rather more than just breaks in the track. It's almost as though the conductive material has completely oxidised. The only continuity I can get is on the first inch or so of track.

Obviously I've scraped the tracks where I'm probing, but there just doesn't seem to be any metallic material remaining.

Has anyone else ever seen this, and is they any means of repair?

Many thanks

Rob

Mine was exactly as you describe. I bought some liquid conductive material that you apply with a brush, masked carefully all the horizontal lines, and added carefully and slowly the material to build up again the elements. It did work, but i don't think that it was worth the expenses (the conductive material was expensive) and the work that i did. If you need a demister, i think that it would be better to exchange your rear screen for one with a working element.

Thanks for the reply. I have a spare rear window here which has the same problem.

It was only really an "icing on the cake" job, so I'll just refit the screen and pretend it never had a rear demister, from the factory
