Heated rear screen switch

I always take pictures when I take things apart, so I know how they go back together

Then I forget, and cannot remember which wire goes to which on the heated rear window switch.

I have the power in from a slate/brown, power out the rear screen from a brown/yellow and an earth wire to light the light, but have no idea how they relate to the numbers.

Any ideas?

If you have a meter, then switch it to the lowest Ohms range, and make sure the heated rear switch is switched on.

Test between connection pairs 1 & 2, 1 & 3 and 2 & 3. The pair with the lowest reading should be the switched pair to operate the heated window, (Slate/Brown battery feed, and the Brown/Yellow screen cable).

The reading from either of this pair to the third connection should be roughly the same, and should show the resistance of the bulb. This third connection will be the Earth.

From looking at the circuit diagram, I don't believe it will matter which connection is which on the pair, (Slate/Brown battery feed, and the Brown/Yellow screen cable), unless the bulb lights continuously in either switch position, in which case swap them around.

Thanks Colin, but I did manage to do this little job, plus a myriad of others last night.

Your rear parcel shelf had gone a little too far over the speaker, so I couldn't use it, but the ends were fine where mine had been cut. So I used the ends, just joined them under the rear head rests, looks the business. Many thanks for that, perfect job.

I tested the switch Phil, put the wires on and the light was on all the time, so switched the power wires round, and it's now working.

Also managed to get the rear speaker in even though it fouled on the new fuel pipe, so that had to be modified, chased a couple of rogue wires around the whole car, and managed to remove them safely, got the rear parcel shelf in, refitted the rear seats, removed the rear seat belts, and other stuff.

Cheers all

Richard
