HEADREST & SEATBELT WANTED

HI,
I HAVE GOT A 73 ROVER 2000TC
I AM LOOKING FOR A BLACK LEATHER SET OF HEADRESTS
I ALSO NEED A SET OF REAR SEATBELTS
CAN ANYONE SUGGEST WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO SEARCH FOR THESE ITEMS, THANKS.

do you just want front headrests? the teardrop or ET type?
only the very early ET type are actually leather!and they were only fitted to the P5 but they will fit!
Give this guy a call,Ian Wilson,,
http://www.rover-classics.co.uk/
he has loads of spares.
rear seatbelts can be sourced from a good breaker from the rear of a jag XJ6,or bought new,ian will be able to help you, also securon do a kit that you should be able to buy from your local motorfactor!
Where are you located??
ps. please turn your caps lock off when posting, its the same as shouting at people!

HI,
I LIVE NEAR RHYL IN NORTH WALES.
I WOULD LIKE THE ORIGANAL TYPE HEADREST.
I JUST THOUGHT THEY WERE LEATHER TO MATCH THE SEATS.
HAVE YOU GOT ANY IDEA WHICH ONES I NEED?
I WILL GET IN TOUCH WITH MY LOCAL FACTORS REGARDING REAR SEATBELTS.
THANKYOU FOR YOUR ADVICE.
REGARDS,
KEVIN.

Kevin
Best option IMHO for rear seatbelts are Jaguar XJ6 ones - they are inertia reel and were standard on the cars for years so there's a lot of them about.
To fit them you need to make a spacer and find some long bolts. They look 'factory' when installed.

Cheers

I would like to say how nice it is to talk cars again, With having 5 daughters and their partners talk football and hair gel, it is great to talk to people with the same things in common, I would like to thank everybody for their post, I will let you know how I am getting on regarding headrest & seatbelts, kevin.

I know I'm out on a limb slightly but I'm now not over-keen on headrests in a P6 - they restrict your rear view considerably. Neither of my P6's have them.

There is the issue though of being shunted up the rear - that's what the head restraints are really for, and thus I should have some really.

The all round visibility in the P6 is hugely superior to any modern car that IMHO the headrest rear visibility issue pales into insignificance when considered against the health risk of a rear end shunt.

I wouldn't have a car without them.

I feel that way about having an empty boot and a mirror full of spare wheel :) Seems I'm odd though

Yep..know what you mean regarding conversation topics Kevin! :D

Jags are a great source for rear belts but the prices can be a bit silly now...and for old belts that may (or may not) be in good nick. I went for a pair of Securon 254's...check out the Search on here and you'll find lots of info - particularly Brian-Northampton's posts.

Easy to fit...all the mounting points are there...

...and whilst maybe not contemporary, if you've a couple of your 5 daughters in the back you'll want to be sure they're pukka!

Whatever you do don't buy from the Securon website unless you've cash to burn..check out ebay.

..for instance...

Securon 254

Great looking P6 by the way!

Cheers,

Front headrests don't really restrict the view as they are behind you or the passengers head anyway!
Rear ones will however,as does a rear boot mount!
I would rather have a slightly restricted rear view, and know my neck is safer in the event of a rear shunt, than see the car coming and know my neck is about to be badly affected by whiplash!
