If it helps at all I would suggest keeping this one and ordering the opposite float anyway. If one’s failed I wouldn’t trust the other to hang on for long afterwards. The HIF floats have a reputation for failing.Sorry, I'm sure you have explained that well but I don't think I understand
For the left hand carb I should have ordered the one designated RH?
I ordered over the phone to avoid this kind of confusion
If I say to them it is the carb on the left, passenger side of the car, have they sent me the correct one?
If you go to the web site and find your vehicles carb. details ,it comes up with a list of parts for each carb. LH & RH, if you look at the list for LH and click on the float details , it comes up with a float defined as a RH float WZX1510 . Your experience seems to confirm this , as the float supplied as LH is the wrong one for your carb fitted to the LH side of the car. What I am trying to say that what SU originally define as a LH carb could well have nothing to do with where its fitted on an engine, or Burlen have just got it wrong.Sorry, I'm sure you have explained that well but I don't think I understand
