The very fact I discovered this for myself today is likely an indicator that everyone else already knew, but just in case:
I've been sorting out some wiring, sidelights and indicators. These had been 'sorted' previously with dubious plastic connectors, and were not holding up. Deciding to replace with brass bullets, I had a problem, as I don't own a bullet crimper. I'm aware of arguments against soldering, but have soldered many bullets over the years without an issue. But on the bench. Not on the car, bent double, in a tight spot.
So, my finding : a cheap 'jet powered cig lighter' is just the job, heats the bullet in seconds to get solder flowing, and has a small discreet flame that doesn't destroy everything around it. I quit smoking and have a box of cheap lighters from all the '20 Marlborough and a cheap lighter' times of falling off the wagon. Glad to find them of use now. Obviously not near fuel.
