Looking through the gallery, here and on other Rover sites, I notice some 3500's have a Rover badge on the front grille. Mine hasn't (3500 V8 auto 1974), should it?.....or is it personal taste? ???
Phil,
Series 1 cars had the aluminium grill with a (series 1) badge on it and series 2 (model year 1971) has the black plastic "egg box" grill and a Rover (series 2) badge on the bonnet.
Hope this helps.
Regards, John.
As John says and by the year on your car (1974) I presume your car to be a series II and as such it will have a ROVER viking ship badge on the leading edge of the bonnet (or should have).
I've had a V8 grill badge nicked and a bonnet badge slightly damaged by little vandals, but years ago I used to own a Ford Cortina 1600E which used to attract vandals / thieves like a magnet!
In latter years I've had a lump of concrete thrown at my back window which damaged boot lid and rear decker panel (now repaired) but (touch wood) no problems for several years now.
Regards, John.
