Hi
I was on this forum a couple of years ago with my Zircon Blue 2000 that I rescued from a farmers field. Much as I loved that car the siren call of MGBs made me sell it earlier this year.
I regretted this decision almost immediately but still hankered after a V8. I’ve now managed to track down a local 3500 Auto with desirable power steering. It needs welding in a few places, tuning, carpets and a respray.
The plan is to get it ready for the spring with perhaps a colour change. The original was Paprika but has been hand painted red. I quite fancy Lunar grey with grey carpets and black seats. Any views?
I will no doubt be asking lots of stupid questions soon as I have never dealt with a Rover V8 engine before.
I’ll try to post a few more photos as work continues.
Andy

Welcome back. Paprika is a fabulous colour, so 70s especially with a black interior. The more positive the colour, he easier it tends to be to sell.

MGBs are like driving a tractor after a P6 in my experience. Fun but definitely from another time.

I love Lunar Grey, there are a few cars on here with that colour scheme, it looks to die for with Sundym glass. P6's came out with so many groovy colours from the late 60's and 70's Paprika, Avocado, Tumeric to name a few they even look nice in white and not many 70's cars looked that nice in white.

Welcome back

@ghce How on Earth do you get 21.5 l/100km?????

Its a special talent, I think sumits up with the tuning of the carburettors but I havent had the time to sort it out the last few years what with a new wife and baby plus living a good chunk of time in China each year, hectic lifestyles aren't good for classic cars!

welcome back. car looks in Fien fettle and love the colour . you can get all sorts of advise here .V8 can be either smooth running with no issues or at other end .cut out at lights.lumpy idle . poor performance etc . overheating in traffic Is often easily overcome in many cases by simply removing hose to tower ( upper part of inlet manifold ) and ensuring the 'small' coolant pipe is clear!. bleeding can also be a pain . however the smooth ride and silky engine makes it a nice gentleman touring car with only a handful of minor complaints eg needs power steering! rolls a lot! handbrake can be a pain in B***.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I just know I’m going to love that V8 burble. I will keep you updated on progress.

Thanks old bloke for the fantastic photos. Whilst I doubt I could justify another P6, I do have 2 MGBs. A rubber bumper GT that I use every day and a mark 1 Roadster that is awaiting paintwork. I agree, they make all great stablemates.
