German car industry

Anyone watch a programme about the decline in the British car industry and the boom in the German one last night? BBC 4 I think
Typical pro German bias but very sad that the industry died basically because of incompetent management
Ford told Austin Morris they were losing £30 on every Mini they sold but they took no notice...

I think it was called "Das Auto: The Germans, Their Cars, And Us", it was on BBC2 at 9pm last night. It's on BBC iPlayer.

its also worth watching the last 10minutes of top gear that preceeded it, shows we really still have got an automotive industry in the UK  !

I switched off after 20mins of what looked like an extended advert for VW. VW have been extremely good at propagating the myth that their cars are more reliable than anyone else's, but there's no reason for a supposedly serious documentary to give credence to that perception.

on the subject of VW does anyone understand that VW start stop advert? from watching the advert if i had kids i wouldnt buy a car with start stop, it;ll make the kids cry..

OMG what were they thinking ! Having crying children as a desired result in your advertising must surely rate as the equivalent of the Darwin awards in the automotive industry, putting offside both mothers and fathers ie with both the earner and the approver offside with the car who do they expect to sell it to?

Apparently Clarkson May and Hammond have complained about having a pro-German industry programme on after their allegedly pro British motor industry programme( which I didn't watch ) Those 3 clowns are about the worst for making people think German cars are best
Still it won't be long before Kia and Hyundai take the crown

... while conveniently forgetting that many of the Vauxhalls that they habitually slated also happened to be built in Germany.
