Gearbox ID - one for Harvey?

Does anyone know what gearbox this is, or is from?

It's got a laycock overdrive attached to the back end..

I could only guess, but if the overdrive indicated it was British then just from looking at the box with what looks like a floor shifter I'd guess GM so maybe Vauxhall Cresta/Ventora if any of those had a floor shifter, or Victor FD/FE but I may be miles off. Have you looked for casting marks on the gearbox casing?
 
I've had a brief look, and found a number. Will clean it off more and see what else I can find.

I picked it up for the overdrive more than anything.

Hi, I agree, it is indeed a Vauxhall FD/FE gearbox, albeit with some gear linkage missing, with a Laycock 'J' type overdrive. Recognised by the bellhousing fixing bolts being external to the bellhousing.
