Hi all , have just purchased a 1959 100 P4 . I have located a gear oil leak coming from a rubber seal with metal shaft protruding thru the rubber seal. The seal is slightly bigger than a 50 c piece. I have looked in my workshop manual but can't workout what it is , if anyone can help would be great , Dave 0427761311 or davemacdonald1967@hotmail.com. Port Kennedy West Australia.

Hi, It sounds like it's the shaft to operate the clutch release bearing. It emerges both sides and the clutch pedal linkage is connected to the appropriate side depending whether it's right or left hand drive. It's lubricated by the gearbox oil and is probably creeping along the shaft. Check the oil level it may be high, if not it's probably just wear in the housing or the shaft. You will need to separate engine and box to gain access.
