Gear lever

I’ve just purchased a 3500s the gear lever is really loose
removed said lever the bush looks ok but the acorn is not even a close fit
can anyone help it looks like I need a bush in the selector to take up the play .?

Later cars had a steel acorn, and this needs a bush that fits inside the ring of the selector rod.

My lever was the same - very sloppy. The end looks like it needs an acorn, so I got one, it fitted the lever, but no way would it fit into the selector shaft ring. in the end i found a piece of thin wall plastic tube that was a tight fit on the lever end, and would go into the selector. The tube was part of a nozzle from a silicon sealant dispenser. Unsure of the exact cause of the misfit.....selector-lever mismatch?
