Fuel pump

I have a HUCO 133010 in the engine bay, no regulator, no change to return pipe, no spillage. Works fine , highest speed so far is 75mph, have cruised at 70mph for 40-50 minutes without issue. 1974 S, HIF6s.

OOps forgot to mention I run the early carbs with seperate float bowl...The issue I had was with the car in which the engine came from. Problem wasn't at cruise but only with full throttle and very high speed. This was annoying for me as i was doing very high speeds on country roads and when passing Road trains could find myself doing well over 100mph (seems silly now but I was young and there were no speed limits on the roads back then...)

It sounds as if you do not have a fuel return pipe, as the pump s should stop pumping s soon as it encounters pressure to deliver against. i.e when the carbs are full and he floats cut off any more input of fuel.
The Rove fuel return is a pipe from the driver's side carb and goes back to the fuel tank. If this is operating, and not blocked, the fuel pump will run continuously. This was Rover's attempt top cure fuel vapourisation, not always successful.
Facet told me that their pump is rated for continuous running so this is OK, but if you do not like the sound of your pump running continuously, then you can put a restrictor in the return, nd adjust o that it only pumps slowly.. This way you get warning of impending vapourisation as the pump can be heard running continuously as s it tries to pump vapour.
if you completely block the return, the pump should stop when the float chambers ae full

What are the specification for the pump that you purchased, Paul?

Aside from the pump parameters, a float that has taken on fuel will sink delivering what you describe, fuel pouring onto the ground while the engine is running.

Follow a process of elimination. Either remove the o/s carburettor and check the float, or disconnect the new pump and refit the old. If no fuel pours from the overflow, then you have found your problem.

Thanks Ron all sorted thank you

You might consider fitting new floats. I had a problem with fuel overflowing the float chambers on my3500S. Started suddenly after fitting new water pump! I changed needle valves and reset float levels to no avail, then on advice from Burlem fitted new floats. Problem cured, thought there did not appear to be anything wrong with the old floats. From memory , new floats were white plastic, old ones brown plastic. Burlem identified the problem immediately..
My fuel system has a facet electric pump, mounted in the engine bay near the brake servo, Filter King regulator, in line filter between tank and pump intake.. Fuel feed taken from the reserve change over tap, and the return restricted so that when the carrbs are full the pump only ticks slowly

Hi thanks for the replies, the pump is from Wadhams and they dont actually give a specification of it ,but say its suitable for front fitting,I will try a few things suggested.
