Fuel pump rebuild query!

Hi all, hope someone can help.

I'm rebuilding the fuel pump on my 72 2000. In the Haynes manual its saying there should be a retaining clip that I remove to release the inlet and outlet valve. However on mine I can't see one. Any advice on how I remove and replace these. Is it a case of trying to knock those tabs back and then pull the valves out? Am I ever going to get a decent seal if I try this myself? Or am I just missing something obvious. Pics attached.

Hi.
They are staked in place and require the peened over part carefully taken out by drilling.
Make a note of the position of the valves before removing.
There should be a paper gasket under the valves which come in the kit.
To fit I normally use a deep thin wall socket the same size as the valve and tap / push in with a vice, then once in I centre punch them to keep in place.

I just did mine last weekend. I was able to remove the valves using an oil seal puller like this one
The new seals I used a socket and vice to drive squarely into their seats. Seems to be working fine. Only I issue I had was the gaskets supplied (the figure of 8 shape one) doesn't match the holes. I had to reuse the original ones as they were not damaged with the above removal method. Not ideal.

I peened those tabs back with a punch and hammer, then took the old valves out put the new valves in, then peened metal back down to hull the new valves in. That was 10 years ago and my pump has been working great ever since. Peening means cold working the metal, and it is very easy!
