Fuel pump inlet thread

Does any one know the thread size for the nut on the fuel inlet pipe to mechanical fuel pump please. I want to take off the fuel pump and would like to stop all the fuel from pouring out when I disconnect it (I have previous for engine arson this year  ), so would like to know the thread to make a blanking plug.

If you jack the front of the car up before you undo the pipe then you shouldn't get fuel coming out, even if the tank is full.

Use a piece of rubber tube that just fits over the olive on the pipe and use a bolt to block the end of the tube

I would Harvey, but it is in the garage with the bonnet up as I'm working backwards from the recalcitrant water pump, whilst I have the radiator etc out I thought I'd look at the PAS belt, it was knackered, so I thought I might as well do the fuel pump as well (it looks a bit weepy, like me now  .) I'll stop when I get to the back lights!

Genius Dave, sheer genius, what O/D is the olive? I would usually ram in a pencil, but I'm trying not to be old School anymore. I will sort out some tubing A.M.

An even better solution is to just get a rubber hose longer than the height of your tank, push it over the olive and then raise the other end of the rubber hose in the engine bay so that it is higher than the fuel level.

The hose you requires is 5/16, just did this the other week and it really is easy, the fuel pisses out very fast once the pump is disconnected.
