Fuel pump for a 2200 engined P6

They were AC delco mechanical pumps. Mounted to the side of the auxiliary drive assembly. UK and EU cars had a glass dome.

All cars had glass domes until roughly 1969, when a slightly higher pressure pump (to deal with the added return line to the fuel tank for emissions) was specified for NADA cars. That pump had a metal dome.

My 1968 NADA had a steel dome too Vern

Same pump as a David brown 990 tractor. About £30 new on eBay.

I will add that one to my parts cross reference. I noticed at the website as the fuel pump that they run 172 degree thermostat in those tractors, almost identical to the original Rover spec of 170 for a Rover 2000. I will add that to my parts cross reference as well.

Thanks for the info , and I am sorry not to have replied quicker, Is that correct the David brown 990 fuel pump is the same as the P6 without any changes. If correct it is outrages the prices for p6 pumps

I looks the same to me. I showed a Rover pump to a former tractor dealer for that era and he recognized it as being from a David Brown 990. I will buy a 990 rebuild kit, and rebuild my spare pump and carry it with me.

So,has anyone fitted a David Brown fuel pump?
They are way more available over here in North Americ, and free shipping too
Cheers,John

Hi, A word of caution!, A while ago I was looking for a sedimenter filter and there are two types, one that flows L to R and the other R to L Not the end of the world but it could affect mounting neatly. It might be worth checking the pumps for the this or it may just need the pump top rotating.

I found a David Brown fuel pump on EBay for $43 Cdn with free shipping.
fitted the pump but quickly found out it is a higher pressure than a stock pump as I had fuel pouring out of the carbs!
Fortunately I found a rebuild kit for my original and installed it,now the car runs like a champ.
I could still use the DB one but I would have to install a pressure regulator
Thought I’d pass on my experience
Cheers,John
