Fuel Filter

I'm trying to replace the fuel filter, it came with two nuts and olives, although I've no idea how to fit the nuts past the pipes on the filter? Brut force? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi, On the old filter cut the 'tails' off to get the nuts off. On the new filter cut the flare off the end , some filters have a stepped tails with two sizes, cut the flare off at the beginning of the 5/16" bit. Slide on the nuts and two new olives and tighten up on the pipes again.

Original fuel filters with the olives are getting expensive and invariably leak.
A stock filter from my local auto man is $'s cheaper.
Ive cut/shortened the line next to the filter. Jubilee clipped a rubber fuel line each side and put the new filter in.
Job done. No more leaks from the olives and a quicker refit when servicing.
Just not original.
My filter sits under the L/h carbie air filter elbow as original BTW.
