What grade fuel was recommended on p6 v8 when new. 3, 4, 5 star? What is the equivalent in rons

Depends on the year, up to late 1973 it's 5 star, after that the lower cr enabled the use of 4 star.

5 star = 100 ron
4 star =97 ron

Closest modern fuels to 5 star are tesco momentum and shell v power. Tesco momentum is best in mine

Most V8s run 98 without changing the ignition timing, although some do need it. The reason being that it was very conservative in the first place. It was a common tuning technique in the 4 star days to increase the advance in SD1s.
