front brake callipers,

Many aftermarket calipers will bolt straight on, as will plenty of factory items as the bolt spacing is very common, 3.5” from memory- don’t quote me on that
Getting all the elements to work together properly is of course the challenge.

There’s good online calculators for total piston area and pad area.

Simon’s turbo car had Jag 4 pots on either defender or disco discs I think. Nice large pad with the jag calipers.

When I first got Sparky, he had Rossinni discs and green stuff pads, which I didn't think made any difference tbh. I changed back to the standard set up because they made a noise like a bucket full of demented crickets every time I touched the brakes. Unfortunately I managed to buy some corrugated discs which shook the front of the car.

After a long search I fitted some Fosseway four pots and vented discs, which are just superb.

Wish I had known about these though, as the Fosseways are a bit pricey

The trickiest bit is finding a suitable disc to re drill the centre of to Rover hub PCD. I found some vented Omega discs that were spot on and re drilled them to suit. I’ve also got staggered piston super lightweight Outlaw calipers which bolt straight with some standoff spacers for disc alignment of course..
I appreciate it’s nice to have an off the shelf solution especially for peace of mind with brakes.
But knowing what I do now, I’d get some custom centre hats/bells made for two piece discs/rotors, exactly what I plan to do when the Omega discs are spent

From memory the original pistons are 2x41mm, 1x58mm, so if these are 4x46mm then the area ratio is 1680/2116 which is 20% bigger. The biggest advantage would be increased pad area, but maybe the solid disc wont cope well with being worked harder than usual? The calipers do seem cheap, even down here in Oz.

"After a long search I fitted some Fosseway four pots and vented discs, which are just superb. " - does this set up unbalance the braking at all? Too much on the front ? M/cyl need changing ?

The old front brakes, standard ones with the three pot original calipers, gave 223L and 239R. The Fosseway four pots and vented discs gave 295L and 329L, so they are certainly uprated by around 35% if my maths are correct. But, the main upgrade for the front brakes were the better cooling, so much less chance of fade.

I don't really see the point in fitting uprated brakes and then changing the M/cyl? I don't have that problem however as these are the rear brakes - from an XJS jag.

I have actually had to reduce the rear brake efficiency using this -
