Fitting a 3rd brake light!

Frustrated by the fact the cheapo universal 3rd brake light I bought would not remain stuck to the inside top of the rear screen,I remembered that Chris York had fitted a Jaguar XK8 convertible unit to the boot of Lucky!
Turned out it was not that easy to find one at a sensible price, but in the end I found one for £40 all in rather than the £100 + p/p shipped from the USA!
Not wanting to drill holes in the bootlid,I removed its 3 securing screws, used a self adhesive strip to protect the boot paint, drilled 2 suitable holes in the boot mount, and ran the wiring.
Once the spare wheel is refitted,it pushed down on the unit, securing it in position! :D
All I now have to do is get it painted to match, but as it doesnt show much, theres no rush!
Shame it doesnt flash, GET OFF MY ARSE
Will have to get a sticker made up for the top of the rear screen! 8)

My painter of choice has now gone to work for McLaren in Woking!
Will have to grab him on one of his home visits or wait for warmer weather and get a can of spray paint and do it myself!

I just stuck one on, and it works fine. If it falls off, I'll have a rethink :)

I found that when it got hot it lost its stickyness on the pads, even then just using a good quality super glue it hardened and fell off!!

How about double sided number plate tape - they do a good one with green backing @ Halfords - it sticks really well.
