First P6 in OZ!

#1
Heard that the P6 were coming to Australia, and knew where Rover Australia's offices were, so kept an eye out....

Around 66 I think. Somebody saw me with the camera and shooed me away.
Edit - note the reverse light under the bumper, and no reflectors on the body.

Great looking car. It must be a trick of the light, it almost looks as if the door handles have been shaved off. Looks great without badges. Did the early rear lights have reflectors integrated at the bottom? Looks much nicer with the reverse light tucked away down beneath the bumper. Smooth lines without a door mirror or rear overriders. What colour was it?

Door handles are there - just the light.

I've got several of those reversing lights, including a NOS one never fitted. Same with the rear light clusters. I much prefer early cars; there are so many little differences out there.

That's a '63 car. It's possibly one of the two sent to Oz for trials, and driven from Perth to Melbourne.

Cripes - I drove my P6 from Perth to Melbourne in 1973. Nearly destroyed the suspension on the Nullabor road. It was unsealed back then. Never forget the journey. A credit to the P6 engineers.
