Hi all.
Not a rover I know,but hey!!
I do drive my P6 V8 everyday!!
Gotta have another car to play with!! :p
My TR6 that I started stripping 1 yr ago for a repaint, and due to being out of work for almost 6 months, got delayed, is back on track, and it goes for painting in the morning :p.
With luck it will be back next weekend,as there is very minimal bodywork to do.
Its all rubbing down, prime, prep, paint!! 2 guys on it exclusive from mon-sat,11hrs a day, should see it looking great.
Will post a pic or 2,as it progresses for you to dribble over :;):
Have a look in my TR6's photo album!!

Just looked at the photo album, remind me why your getting it re-spayed ? Looks pretty good in the pics.... :)

Hi Richard.

I bought the car in june 05.
It had been fully nut and bolt restored, with a factory recon eng/box,in '85' by the owner I got it from,by a then well known TR company,Cox and Buckles, and he had only done 13k dry miles in 20 yrs.
Mechanically & bodily its overall condition is excellent. :p
However due to the owner getting a divorce and loosing the garage in '02',it lived under a cover and a carport for 3 yrs, this caused the otherwise immaculate cellulose paint to microblister very badly on the bonnet and boot lid,and the tops of the wings were starting to blow.
This was due to trapped something,"moisture?",between the primer and paint, and luckily had caused no body rust at all!!
The complete bare metal repaint was all that it really needed, I could not find any rust on it except for 2 sill end caps!! "A £1.50 each easy fix"
I got it for the bargain price,"£4k",as the owner thought it was a lot worse!!,had lost interest and wanted it gone :D
As you see I totally stripped it,Ive cleaned up everything I took off and repainted/refreshed bits where needed.
I used it for a year to let it prove itself reliable, and to enjoy 2 summers playing with it. Only had to replace a water pump!! Ive also picked up some mint N O S parts to fit,to improve on it where poss!!!
I want to get it done to attend a local new years day show if poss, but the weathers really crap here at the moment,so I will refurb some small bits indoors in the warm!!
The guy who painted it did his apprenticship with an E Type & Jag restoration company, and is now self employed,he has done an exceptional job,not concourse,as that really takes time and money, but for my £1500,its not far off!! and I am over the moon with it!
Roll on '08'!!!!
I will add more as it progresses
Cheers DAVE

Well its finished, the paintjob is brill, not concourse but its exceptionally nice.
Took me about a month or so to bolt it all back together again,
Passed its MOT easily! Drives great! Sounds awesome!!
Now they happily sit alongside each other!!
Will always be something to improve and tinker with though!

Hmmmmm, very nice !
I do love the TR6, just the right blend of straight lines and curves (if you know what I mean)

Hope you don't mind me saying but the bottom of that front wing on the P6 needs spraying to match the sill ! In that photo it almost looks like the sill cover is missing. Or are you considering doing the sill cover body colour ?

Yeah I know!
Its one of those get round to it one day jobs! As soon as I can find an exact paint match or a very close one,I will do it!
I took the sill into our local Halfords, but couldnt match it,I will try a paint factors one day!!

At my local paint factors, you can take a part in (usually fuel filler caps on moderns) and he mixes paint to match, by eye !, he does a very good job too. On my original convertible I took a pizza box in and he mixed paint to match !

However many bigger suppliers will have the machine that scans the colour and works out the right mix.

You've got a meat feast coloured convertible ?

Pilkie , are you running the Lucas fuel injection system still ?
I like the TR's wheels , good old simple wheels like Lotus Cortina 51/2 J's ,Don't think I've ever seen alloys on a Tr6

Hi Dave
Yep!
Here it is!
Its got a bosch fuel pump though!,the original lucas pump was rebuilt, but never refitted! Keep it as a spare just incase!!
Still goes like STINK!!! :p
