Finally a tidy 3500S!

I referred to it as a spacer as you called it so, I thought it easier to use that name than call it a thrust collar, then you would have maybe queried if it was indeed the same part.
So here we go - replace the thrust collar as you have to cut the original to get it off.

That's it. That one is made to the early spec, later ones don't have the four grooves shown on one end. Those grooves were supposed to be against the bearing.
 
Of course if you happen to have a bearing puller collar that you can bolt up around the thrust collar and access to a 50 ton press, or again one of those fancy hydraulic pullers that work with a puller collar then yippee, no problem, I'll retract what I said and order a large humble pie.

I must admit I just gave up on the puller and turned it off on the lathe. Getting back on the road
