Came across this whilst sorting out the shed today. Guess that's why the block has no engine number. Anyone know the significance of the numbers? Does it relate to a build year ?
Apparently Rover supplied many early rebuilt engines & gearboxes due to problems (what - I don't know). Yours looks to be engine number 82, whereas mine is 222 & yours was not rebuilt with oversize pistons or crank.
Thanks Phil appreciate the info. Does seem quite a fancy label for a factory rebuilt engine and begs the question if all rebuilt engines had no engine number?
If so how did you source spares for same years after fitting, presumably by quoting the numbers as shown though there doesn't seem to be any mention of this in manuals or Service Newsletters.
