Hi.

The exhaust is gone in more than one place. Local garage called their suppliers and I was quoted £500 plus VAT for a whole set-up which according to them is only available in stainless steel.

Are there alternatives?

Thanks.

Wadhams web site prices are often years out of date so check the price on the phone !.

Also try P D Gough stainless steel exhausts you get club discount, the one on my car has been on there for more than 20 years

Wadham's don't have all mild steel any more and offer a combo of mild and stainless or all stainless.

I'll keep looking and thinking.

I have had a quote from a local "boy racer stainless exh maker", for a 54mm big bore two seperate pipe system, coming of the left and right manifolds with one box each side at the rear, exiting with 2 chrome flared ends, a little bigger than a std add on chrome type would be,total built and fitted,£250+vat guaranteed for life!!!!
I will be allowed to be involved in the removal of the old one and fitting of the new one to ensure a good job and fit.
All ive got to do is raise the battery box and put a heat shield under it,and fettle the rear valence to match the n/s b4 I go ahead. My existing std systems boxes are new,and the down pipe is v good and ive a spare one,so I can keep the good originals!!so it will be my project while the TR6 is away being repainted.
Cant wait to see how it sounds :p :p

I'd be very interested to see how they get both pipes past the diff pinion crossmember, because there certainly won't be room for both to go over it, and going under will seriously reduce ground clearance. Keep us posted.
Any twin pipe system really needs a balance pipe between them.

Why not just have the pipes exit just infront of the rear wheels?
And no it wont heat up the tyres.

Hiya,

With the help of a fellow P6 owner, I was able to find a supplier who does a s/s exhaust system for £350 incl. VAT and delivery. Had it installed by a local garage and they were impressed by the 'perfect fit'.

Now my car sounds like a P6 3500 should.

Hi,

I did not want to be rude because there are Rover suppliers listed on this website.

Guaranteed Exhaust Systems Ltd
Unit 4, Willand Industrial Estate
Willand
Cullompton
EX15 2QW
Devon
Tel: 01884 821237

If you have had a good experience with a supplier then I think the rest of us should know.
On a similar note, if you've had a bad experience with a supplier we also need to know, it all helps us to decide which suppliers to use, and hopefully encourages all suppliers to improve their service.

Also the club could probably approach the supplier to see if they would like to advertise in P6 News ! :)

They also have a website - http://www.stainlesssteelexhausts.net

Something else you could try... how about 8 primaries poking through the bonnet?

-Cut them about 2 foot long and then spray them up with some ordinary aerosol.
-Take it for a run down the drag strip.
-switch off imediately
-Note where the paint has stopped burning off and cut the pipes off at this point.

You now have your primaries all at the perfect tuned length :D

I did in fact post details last February of this Company, under 'Stainless Steel Exhausts' in chit chat topic, and I pointed michael in this direction!!!!

I can recommend this company, who supplies an excellent system, and yes it sounds great.

Mike. :D
