Establishing colour without spec stickers under the bonnet

Hi All,

Could be an impossible task, but is there a way to find out the exact colour of my 1975 P6 3500 auto when the under-bonnet stickers are missing?

Short of posting pics and getting you superb experts to guess, I'm at a loss as to how to fix the dreadful filler job the previous abuser has done if I can't work out what colour it is.

I would describe it as a SLIGHTLY off-white with black vinyl roof. I've seen p6s that were dazzling white and mine is not.

Many thanks!
Sandy

The paint suppliers will have colour swatches that will be able to help you out.
They are generally sorted by manufacturer and series to make life easier for all involved.

There weren't too many colours available at any one time so it's not too difficult. For the year it could have been Arctic white or Pendelican white (they change in October '75) but there is a very good chance that it's no longer the original colour anyway. If you are doing patch repairs your best bet is to get the colour matched by a paint shop.

Many thanks guys, I'll take a meander to a paint shop that purports to be able to colour match...

:D
Most auto paint suppliers are able too color match--some can even do sub shades ie paint fade over the years

Arctic White was the colour until right at the end of 1975 - the changeover happens in the middle of December, the records are total anarchy due to the confusion going on at that point

Replacement was Pendilican White (a more creamy colour)

Arctic White is, according to folklore, exactly the same as Ford Diamond White, and have having used the latter as a touch in, I think there's substance in that.
