Engine parts

I haven't bought any parts for an engine for quite a while, so where do people go to get them?

I have found rings from £50 to over £500 per set (for 8 pistons). Big end shells from £16 to £164 per set.

I don't worry about having the words 'Land' and 'Rover' written on the box, but I do want something of decent quality.

Anyone have any favourite suppliers they would recommend?

Cheers

Richard

try an LR supplier like britcar or lrdirect as they will let you select the part manufacturer that gives you the desired balance between cost and quality for any given part number.

I have bought from Real Steel before but had trouble getting any advice from them this time. They may be working from home or whatever, not sure.

I managed to get some genuine Main shells from Rimmers at a reasonable price, plus some OEM big ends. I did pay a fair bit (£150.00) for the rings, from Turner Engineering, nowhere near the £510 for the genuine parts, but more than the £50 from Real Steel.

So, a good compromise, let's hope they turn out to be the best choice :)

I have done several RV8 and bought parts from V8 tuner but Paul passed away last year. The last time i bought parts from JRV8. Some time ago he helped me finding a 4ZF HP22 from a sherpa van for my P5B. He removed it from the van and did a thorough job with sending me also the gear selector and cables and also the inlet manifold with the kick down brackets and cable which made the conversion very easy. It was also well packed and all went as promised. I then bought parts from him to overhaul my RV8 and was pleased with the service and the quality. He and his son overhaul V8 and he is a pleasant quy to deal with
