engine paint colour

Yep, the duck egg blue was the standard colour on Rover blocks. Some Land Rover suppliers sell the correct colour engine paint.
 
The total engine was never painted only the various components, not like BMC who painted the whole engine at the end of the engine assembly line.

Ford did the same. Looking at people building up Mustangs, who literally paint every square inch of their engine is crazy. It looks like a big blue blob in the middle of the engine bay.
 
Ford sprayed the entire engine at the end of assembly, the oil filter was fitted so that got painted, the intake was fitted so that had a coat up to the carb spacer, the exhaust manifolds were on so they got painted around as best they could.
I had a '65 K code Fastback GT to concours standard. In '65 the engines were black, so it was a big black blob with Chrome rocker covers and air filter.
