Engine number

Hallo Rover owners,

I found an engine with engine number 1 s 45200171c

Question... is there somebody who can tell me the specs of this engine and is this an engine with a rope- or a lipseal at the gearboxside?

452000 series engines appear to be P6 era 10.5:1 CR auto transmission, yes with rope seal. Check near that engine number to see if the CR is stamped.

"C" suffix is 10.5:1cr, has a rope front seal, but a lipseal at the rear main.

It might well be, as that is a very early exhaust manifold, so there may have been a replacement engine fitted.

I think it may well be a replacement engine, my P6 has the number on the back of the block, not where that one is.
