Hi.I have a Series one 2000tc which unfortunately needs a lot of welding.I have the offer of an early solid series two in which the engine has gone.Would I experience any difficulties in using my car as a donor vehicle? Are there any major difficulties I would find? All help I can get appreciated.

Regards
Tony.

The engine and gearbox should just drop in.
The front engine steady is a little different among the two cars (series 1 vertical, series 2 the bottom of the rod angled to the offside of the car) but this is not really a problem. You can bolt all the associated series 2 brackets to your engine.
If the two cars use different starters (inertia vs pre-engaged) you might have to swap starters or adapt the electrical connections according to your wish.
You can choose to retain the series 1 gearchange system, or adopt the later from the series 2, using your own gearbox if you wish.
That's all that i can think of, at the moment.
