Hi all, can I have advice on how I can clean (really well) the middle part of the grill so I can spray it black
like I have done with the two outer end pieces?
Id like the paint to stick and last.
Thanks Karl

I used T Cut on mine, took a while but made a brilliant job of it. Didn't paint it black though, just a bit of polish.

Best time .Send her out with a pocket full of money - its worth it. I cleaned my rocker covers in the dishwasher and enamel baked the inlet manifold in the oven whilst she was sent on an errand. None the wiser when she got home - just a lingering smell from the baking , which I bullshitted my way out of. I'll send you the manual " things Blokes can do in the Kitchen'' when the missus is out. Its like the bible without the sex.

lmao Gerald
I have boiled my rusted calipers in one of her pots, on the stove and got away with it while she was present.
But even that was pushing it.
I am lucky I guess, she will help me with anything to do on the car.
She did buy a matching t shirts with a pic of my rover on them both, one saying rover enthusiast, the other, rover widow.
But no car parts inside the house. Except on Sat mornings, well this Sat morning :)

Hi Karl,

If you can, use satin black, as they were never gloss. The edges are also silver. I have a complete NOS set of grille plus light surrounds. Happy to post some photos if that helps?

Ron.

Hi Ron. thank you but I got it sorted.
I cleaned it using the dishwasher, but turns out it didn't clean It that well.
I put some thinners into a bucket and proceeded to clean with a petrol washing brush which did the job well.
I almost melted the end of the grill that was sitting in the thinners, but realised in time.
I sprayed it in a black which seems to be a satin , not glossy , not flat. The can just said acrylic enamel.
Anyway I sprayed the grill (all three pieces) all black, so now I have to paint the silver edges.
What would be the easiest way do you think? I thought of painting some cardboard in the silver and "running" the
grill face over it, once or twice.
The other thought was to use a cotton bud dipped in silver paint and rolling it along the edges?

ill give the cotton buds a whirl first and see how it goes, a paint brush might not let off fluff though.
ill get to it sometime this week and let you know cheers
