Hi All,

Just a quick note to introduce myself to the forum - I've recently taken over custodianship of this fine machine:

I'm having a few issues with the gear selection (see other post elsewhere) and the brakes need a bit of TLC... plus the paint is terrible.
She's got a bit of company from my usual fleet, but my son (he's 9) has fallen in love with her and gave her the name based on the reg number.

Hopefully we can overcome the issues - and enjoy some miles.

Welcome! Always good to see a new member with a car I don't recognise.

Your paintwork looks okay from a distance. It may cut up fairly well. P6s have a decent amount of paint on them from the factory so can be polished up fairly well with a decent cutting compound.

Look forward to seeing more of the car in time

Welcome aboard, I've an identical 1968 2000 SC. They're great cars. My gear change is pretty good, so hopefully you'll get yours sorted. I'm sure it's a very different driving experience to the Imp!

I know that car! Welcome to P6 World, Tim. They are wonderful machines when working as they should. I can't think of a British car design launched in the early 1960s that's better engineered. Not even an Imp, despite my Imp-owning history.

Have fun, John S

Ah, it wasn't mine. It belonged to the gentleman on the left of the PC cover pic. Mine is a 1972 2000 TC in Mexico Brown, and it's high time I wrote another update about it for the magazine.

So, Impmann, how's it going? The chap I sold my 1967 Series 1 to a few years ago, complete with uncertain gearchange, eventually discovered that the problem was that the tie bracket between the gear lever housing and the top of the gearbox had broken. That might be worth a look. More recently, a friend's 1970 TC's ultra-vague gearchange was cured by replacing the broken nylon bearing within which the gear lever ball pivots.

Thanks John - I wondered if anyone would spot her origin…
I was going to have a play this weekend, but family stuff got in the way. However a long weekend approaches with nothing else better to do so I shall be investigating then.

It’s not just vague - it feels like there is no first gear! I genuinely thought the box had gone when I first tried to drive it. Not sure how Danny managed but he did!

Anyway… thanks everyone for the suggestions and the warm welcome. I shall report on what I find!!
