easysteer electric power steering

Has anybody fitted a easysteer electric power steering to their car, enough is enough I am a paraplegic and I need to get some help with the steering. I don't want oil Power steering as I have just sold a jag and I was always having to get oil leaks sorted. I should say the car is 2200 auto

Regards John

I have made enquiries, and both easysteer and ez steering have said that the P6 is not suitable for fitting electric power steering . It is something to do with the safety features that were built in, and the position that any CV joint that would be needed . I don't have enough knowledge to agree or not.

Regards John

I spoke to easy steer yesterday and he said that they don't provide a kit for the P, Today I had a chat with EZ steering and they said it could not be done due to the geometry and as I said the design for safety !!

Hi, It may be because the column to steering box is short and has no collapsible element. It may be alright to do it yourself but they probably can't meet possible safety requirements.

Hi John
I did reply to your message.
My EPAS is not by easysteer but by Litesteer in Sussex. They used a modified corsa system which fitted - just! in the glove box.

Good to see a P6 with hand controls, looks to be very neatly done. I have two friends who both have cars fitted with hand controls. One of them being a bit of a maverick has had all kinds of exotica so fitted.
I drove one guys car so equipped myself, totally on the hand controls on quite a long journey to see how I could adapt and found after a few miles it was like I had always been doing it.

The obvious issue is having to drive with one hand only on the steering. I reasently sold a Jaguar S type ( 1964) because the gear change is on the right side of the steering column , even though it was an auto car it was a nightmare having to put my hand through the steering wheel to move the gear change when parking.
