Hello people, I need some help.
I´m in the final part of an engine rebuild ( P6 2000TC 1976 LHD ). The engine is back in the car, and because I've lost the photos
I made before dismantling, I'm now with to earth wire with no idea where they go, and if they go together or in different places.
So I´ll apréciate any help. I'm attaching a picture.
Thanks in advance.

The bottom (braided) one goes on to one of the retaining nuts and bolts that hold the engine mounting rubber on to the base unit.

The other one looks non-standard, and as it looks like it is bolted to the base unit at the other end to that which you have circled, it can be bolted to any suitable bolt on the engine.

Hi Carlos, The earth wire from the block goes where to the bolt on the engine mount I've circled in green. Unfortunately I have a series I car so I don't know where the other wire from the battery box goes. But if it's from the neg side of the battery I would assume to the same place. 1598442058185.png

Just make sure that the insulated wire isn't the supply to the starter motor, if you earth that one you will cause yourself a lot of problems.

Exactly, first find out where the other end of the insulated wire is attached to, and then decide what to do with it.

Uff !! That´s important !! I will trace from where is coming and if it´s negative or positive. I will check if the length could logically get to the starter.
I've already attached other wires to the starter with the help of the Forum in previous post ( see Pic ). So I think this thick black wire does not go to the starter. Anyway I will double check.
Thanks everybody.

Well, I've been investigating the mysterious black wire ( top photo of the thread ).
1- The wire could connect perfectly in the starter (see photo 1).
Any idea where ? The size of the hole in the connector gives some clues.
2- It goes to the inside of the car (see photo 2)...
3- ... and connects with other wires in the floor of passenger side ( remember my car is LHD ), See photo 3
With all that info, any idea where this positive wire ( I think is positive ) connects.
Sorry to bother you...

The mystery wire is the supply to the starter motor. Good job you didn't earth that one then.....

It fits to the large terminal on the solenoid which is furthest away from the motor itself.

Thanks Harvey !! Now the question is: does it fit together with the brown wire already connected ? ( see photo )

The brown wire that's already on there is most likely the alternator supply. I normally fit the main supply wire first, then the brown wire, then the washer and nut.

Thanks Harvey !! And also makes sense the other mysterious part ( another thread ). It holds the wire when goes on top of the gearbox ( see photo )

Can u send me the picture please from the connections.
I've already connected the wire the way Harvey suggested and works perfect. I cranked the engine for 20 seconds and everything seems to work correctly. Thanks for your interest !
