Im a big supporter of this type of event. For those that havnt heard about "drive it Day" The idea is that we all use our cars on the day, whether that is simply going to the shop. on a longer trip or even just getting it out and parking it outside your gaff.
Basically its fly the flag for the classic car world on one day.
This year coincides with St georges day too. So Why not buy a cheap St Georges Flag and a Union Jack and let it fly from your car ariel, just for one day.

APRIL 20th

Don.

Thats a hard choice ???
Do I leave my daily driver p6v8 at home and get the TR6 out ???
Think I will see what the weathers doing on the day!
I drive to work in the p6v8.
I come home every day for a 2hr lunch in the lorry, and if the weathers dry,I go for a quick blast and pop up the shops in the TR6 :p
As I said " Its a hard choice" :D
Good job I dont have a modern eurobox heap of S*** to confuse the issue!!

I'm one of those unlucky types who has to drive his P6 almost every day because the wife prefers the Ford Focus and come St George's day there will be a genuine ex-army Union Flag blocking the back window (unless of course the do-gooders ban flying the flag for fear of upsetting someone – then I'll be flying two of them!)

Pilkie, if you're not up to the job mate give us a shout, I'm sure there's one or two of us on the forum who would gladly take your TR for a spin on your behalf! :D

You lucky lucky bar stewards you.
Surely your a minority, I struggle to find the time to go out and warm mine up let alone drive it daily. Would if I could mind. Anyway, I think the DID Day is a good idea, brought about by the Federation of wotsit and vintage wotsits I think.

St Georges day is 23rd April of course, so my flags going to fly for a whole week, even if it hasto go on the van for a bit.
Make the most of it chaps, there even dropping our lady brittania from the 50 pence piece. Pathetic. why dont we just bin everything connected with our heritage, and all fly the European flag.

(Yeah over my deadbody)

Like Pilkie, the Mrs and I don't have the option of steering a modern car, as we only have classics! The newest car we own is my Capri, which was built late 1986, registered early 1987, while the Mrs drives her Mk2 Escort everyday. The Rover is the toy, but if the weather's nice, I'll hatch him out :;):

Thoight I should bring this up to date.

I saw 3 classics on drive it day, not a lot really seeing as I was out and about in the P6 most of the day

One late 50s zodiac,
One Large old van, (looked like a trojan)
and a moggy van.

Anyone else see anything interesting?

There were loads out on the island, it was like being on the set of some 70's TV show.

The ones I can remember...

Moggie Minor
Triumph Spitfire
Triumph Dolomite
A lambretta scooter, the rider and pillion had all the cool period gear on.
Some really old 1940's car not sure what it was, could have been an old Rover, not close enough to see.
Fog eyed sprite

Many more, really cool. :)

I forgot it was Drive-it-day but we are also everyday classic users (newest=1975) & went down to Folkstone to see my Mum in our Auntie (110). :;):
