Hello Ladies and gents not so long ago I bought the plastic gaskets for the door mirrors as the ones on Jamjar had perished. The mirrors were held on with philip wood screws and screw clips inside the door like these..
The mirrors were loose, tightening the screws did nothing and the screw heads were worn. So one sunny weekend I began stripping the door...
I had to drill one of the screws out which damaged the mirror and the door when the drill slipped DOH!
Anyway I came up with a solution which may not be original but as far as I'm concerned.. I thought of it.
I bought large washers, nuts and bolts from the DIY store and after drilling the correct size in the washer, I glued the nut onto the washer with araldite glue..
Once fully dried I cleaned the inside of the door panel with white spirit and glued the washer on the inside.
I screwed in the bolt to hold them in place while they dried.... you can see where the drill slipped
At one point I thought the glue had dried and as I tried to fit the mirror the washer fell off into the bottom of the door... flippin awkward to get your hand in the bottom to find it and when I did it was covered in rust dust... I couldn't find one of them and its still in there somewhere.....
Anyway finally did fit the mirrors and replaced the damaged one with a spare I had off ebay....
Very please with myself..... and Jamjar
