Dont freak out, I have a spare set of headlight covers and during a brain fart I decided to embarrass myself, so no permanent harm done to the P6 community . I will put her back to normal before taking her out and attracting a stoning from the general public.

Many years ago I painted the black bits on my 3500S wheel trims, red. I spent ages getting them to look right, but they really didn't suit the car at all.

Quite liked the blacked out grill and side strips though.

I quite like that! I think it would work if you also painted the grille, then outlined the parts that are normally silver with black.

If I had a spare honey comb grill I would have done that. There would be a fair bit of work prepping the "combs' for a repaint. Then If It looked worse for my effort I'd get a headache.
Now If I had my hands on a spare ??

Don’t mind it at all. However the Viking in the middle clearly is a matter of individual preference.

I found the Viking badge in a garage sale and the seller didnt know what it was. I was going to add it to my wall collection of Rover memorabilia but the badge fitment it on the P6 seemed like a nod to her heritage. Mr RagNorRok works well in the centre of the grill especially with the viking motifs on the wheel trim centres.

A bit off topic, but....pulled a headlight the other day to check depth behind, and had a bugger of a time getting the grille parts to go back in - fitted near side fist, loose screws, then centre, and had a lot of trouble getting off side part to go in and mate with the centre piece tangs. Is there a trick here? Should I fit the sides to the centre tangs, and drop the whole lot in at once?
thanks

I loosely screw the various pieces in place , and then just wiggle them all into alignment before tightening them all up. Any other way will do you head in.
